A Manchester United shirt worn by Sir David Beckham during the club’s historic Treble-winning campaign has sold for £10,000 at auction.

The red No. 7 home jersey from the 1998-99 season was worn by the former midfielder in a Premier League match against Arsenal and an FA Cup clash with Chelsea. Beckham, pictured in a similar shirt against Leicester City in 2000, later left Old Trafford to join Real Madrid [PA Media].
Under Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United claimed the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League that season.

At the same auction, a pair of silver boots worn by Cristiano Ronaldo during his time at Old Trafford sold for £7,500. The Nike boots, engraved with ‘R9’ on the tongue, were retrieved from a bin at United’s Carrington training ground by cleaner Tony Heywood in 2004. Heywood had worked as a cleaner for the club for 46 years.
Additionally, a black No. 7 shirt worn by Ronaldo when United beat Liverpool 1-0 at Anfield in 2005 sold for £14,000. The Portuguese forward left Old Trafford to join Real Madrid in 2009 in an £80 million deal.

All three items — the Beckham shirt, Ronaldo’s top, and his boots — were sold at an auction in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, on April 28.
However, an original Manchester United stadium sign from the Stretford End failed to sell after its £40,000 reserve price was not met. The sign was removed in 1992, and former manager Sir Matt Busby had given the private vendor permission to take it.
