Iran has laid out five key preconditions for entering a new round of negotiations with the United States, according to a report by the semi-official Fars News Agency citing informed sources.
The conditions, outlined on May 12, include: ending all ongoing conflicts, particularly in Lebanon; lifting sanctions against Iran; unfreezing Iranian assets; compensating for war-related damages; and recognizing Iran’s sovereignty over the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
The sources warned that if these demands are not met, the path to a new phase of Iran-U.S. talks will be blocked. The report was initially shared by China’s CCTV International News.
