Dutch striker Luuk de Jong (35) will not remain at Porto beyond the current campaign, as reported by Portuguese outlet ZeroZero. The experienced forward has made the decision to return to the Netherlands due to serious family issues.

Although his contract expires at the end of the season, both De Jong and Porto had the option to extend the deal for another year. However, the choice has already been made, and the player is preparing to head back to the city of Eindhoven.
De Jong is still recovering from surgery he underwent in December after suffering a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. As a result, he will not pull on the Porto shirt again.

According to ZeroZero, an illness affecting a close relative prompted the former PSV striker’s decision. With his 36th birthday just months away, De Jong has featured in only seven matches this season, scoring one goal for the Dragons.
Interestingly, despite his limited playing time in a campaign marred by two serious injuries, the Dutchman played a part in Porto’s title chase. His solitary goal secured a 1-2 victory in the Clássico against Sporting at Alvalade in the fourth round of the season.
