Union Berlin defeated Mainz 3-1 in the 33rd round of the German Bundesliga. With this victory, Marie-Louise Eta, who is in charge of Union, became the first female head coach to win a match in Germany’s top flight.
Eta took over Union Berlin in April 2026. Since then, the team has played four matches, losing to RB Leipzig (1-3) and Wolfsburg (1-2), and drawing with Cologne (2-2).
The match saw Mainz take an early lead through Ilic in the 38th minute, but Union equalized through Becker in the 48th. Burk scored in the 88th minute to put Union ahead, and Juranovic sealed the victory in stoppage time (90+1′).
After 33 Bundesliga matches, Union Berlin have 36 points and sit in 12th place in the table. In the next round, the Berlin side will face Augsburg on Saturday, May 16.
