The Ulju County government in Ulsan announced on the 13th that it will begin the bidding process for the Ulju Baseball Field construction project in the Seosaeng-myeon area. The project involves an investment of 43.4 billion won (approximately $32 million) to build a baseball field on a site of 60,083 square meters in Seosaeng-ri, San 9-beonji.
The facility will include two baseball fields, a pitcher and batter practice area, 608 spectator seats, dugouts, locker rooms, an umpire room, and a broadcast booth. Since starting feasibility studies in 2023, the county has sequentially completed major administrative steps such as local financial investment review, feasibility analysis, and urban management plan revisions.
Currently, detailed designs for civil engineering, landscaping, and architecture are being finalized, while land compensation is being handled through the Korea Real Estate Board. The county plans to sign contracts and complete compensation procedures after this month’s bidding, with construction starting in the second half of this year and completion targeted for next year.
Local officials expect the new baseball field to improve sports conditions for local baseball enthusiasts, attract national-level tournaments, and boost sports tourism, benefiting the regional economy. “The Ulju Baseball Field is a key sports facility to meet the demand for community sports among county residents,” a county official said. “We will push forward without delay to expand sports infrastructure that residents can truly feel.”
